Why you need a bonsai rose?

In a small urban balcony garden, several pots of blooming roses can become the visual focus and be pleasing to the eyes.

Under suitable climate and maintenance conditions, roses that are properly pruned and fertilized can continue to bloom throughout the warm season.

Roses absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen through photosynthesis. They can help purify the surrounding air and improve air quality.

  1. Light conditions
    • Roses are sun-loving plants and need at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day during the growing season. Under full sunlight (8 - 10 hours of direct sunlight), they grow rapidly and the flower quality is excellent, but some shade may be needed when it's hot in summer. They can also grow and bloom under half sunlight (4 - 6 hours of direct sunlight), though they may not be as vigorous. Insufficient sunlight (less than 4 hours of direct sunlight) will cause the plants to grow spindly, make it difficult for flower buds to differentiate, and result in fewer flowers.
  2. Water conditions
    • The watering frequency varies depending on factors such as seasons. During the vigorous growth periods in spring and autumn, water them 2 - 3 times a week. In hot summer, it may be necessary to water them every day. In winter when the growth is slow, watering them once every 1 - 2 weeks is enough. Rainwater and river water are the best choices for water quality. If using tap water, it should be left to stand for 1 - 2 days first. It's advisable to keep the relative air humidity at 40% - 60%. When the air is dry, you can spray some water appropriately or use a humidifier. When the humidity is high, pay attention to ventilation.
